About Me

“Art is not a thing; it is a way.” – Elbert Hubbard

Hi, I’m Dee! I'm a lifelong artist and dedicated art educator born and raised in Inwood, Manhattan. I work across a wide range of mediums including oil paint, pastels, acrylics, colored pencils, and digital art. I’m passionate about using art as a tool for connection, self-expression, and community building.

I earned my BFA in Fine Arts with a minor in Art History from Brooklyn College, where my work was featured in the BFA Thesis Exhibition. I’m currently pursuing my Master’s in Art Education at Brooklyn College while teaching high school art at Inwood Academy for Leadership. There, I’ve developed a full-year visual arts curriculum that explores drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, and mixed media. My classroom emphasizes personal storytelling and social themes, giving students the space to discover their creative voices.

Outside the classroom, I’ve led student art exhibitions at local venues like Kuro Kirin Café and Inwood Farm, coordinated a student-designed community mural for Earth Day in collaboration with CITYarts, and organized a school-wide Arts Night featuring interactive art stations and student performances. I also work as a painting instructor across NYC public schools, leading guided acrylic workshops for students and educators.

In addition to teaching, I own and operate my own Etsy shop, DeeSellingArt, where I sell handmade items including art prints, stickers, enamel pins, and embroidered clothing and accessories.

Whether I’m creating a custom painting, leading a workshop, or designing for my shop, I aim to make art accessible, meaningful, and inspiring — art is experience, after all!
